Jeevan Aasara: Like every year, Piggy Bank Distribution programme was organised this month for the children of HIV+ve parents.  The scheme Jeevan Aasara is taking care of the children of HIV+ve parents. As on December 2008, total 347 children enrolled under this scheme. The scheme provides the complete care of the children including their medical & educational support.

The programme was arranged on 30th day of this month. Kisan Vikas Patra have been distributed among 125 children to keep their savings under a fixed deposit scheme. Yuvak Pratishthan will contribute Rs.1000/- per child and the savings will be kept on Fixed Deposit a/c in the name of the children upto the age of 18 yrs.

The programme was started with tribute to the martyrs of 26/11. Paid homage to the victims of 26/11 Mumbai Terrorists Attack, keeping two minutes silence. 

Inaugural speech was given by Dr. Medha Somaiya, General Secretary of Yuvak Pratishthan. She highlighted the concept of the programme since its beginning and the role of Yuvak Pratishthan behind this. Mr. Vinod Ghedia, Dy. Mayor of Mumbai, was the Chief guest, appreciated Yuvak Pratishthan for such a noble cause. Dr. Saroj Maheshwari, Superintendent of Cama Hospital, was also present.

Nirmal MMR Abhiyan: Construction work of Toilet Blocks is going on at 60 different sites of Mira-Bhayender, Vasai, Virar, Navghar-Manikpur, Kalyan-Dombivli, Ambernath, Badlapur, Pen, Panvel, Uran & Alibag. One more toilet at Bhiwandi completed and handed over the local slum dwellers. Details available on www.ypmumbai.com.

MOBILE GENERAL CHECK–UP CAMPS: Regular mobile camps continued daily 5 camps through three mobile vans at different areas of Mumbai suburbs.  2360 patients were performed complete check-up and given medicines.  The details are as under:

We request the citizen of all nearby areas to visit the centre and take benefits of all the medication / health related problems.

CENTRE FOR SLUM STUDIES: DSSD students visited Mantralaya’s various departments to observe & learn the practical work of Mantralaya.  They also visited Karjat Adiwasi padas to study their livelihood.

PALAVI  KENDRA : Ante-Natal Care (ANC) of the pregnant women mobilization in Four Administrative Wards of Greater Mumbai; 'M/East' ward, ‘E’ ward and ‘S’ ward were covered during the month.

Our Out Reach Workers visited families in their respective wards, interacted with them and guided them about the health related problems.  They were counselled, guided and given proper guidance on health related matters, HIV & PPTCT Centre, Prevention and Family Planning.

Community meetings were held for Mahila Mandals, Health Posts, Beauty Parlor, Small Industries, Vyayamshala etc. The participants have been informed about Palavi Kendra.  IEC material and booklets for awareness distributed among them.

All the patients were treated with proper medication & counseling about their health related problems.  Pathological tests were done at very concessional rates.

We would like to inform that the centre has started X-ray and Sonography facility at very concessional rates.  Patients are requested to visit the centre to avail this facility on nominal charges.

JEEVAN AASHA :  In the month of December, 98 patients visited our office and registered under Jeevan Aasha.  67 patients in all have received financial assistance this month from different Trusts for different ailments.  Others are under process.  Category of the patients / cases:
