We are giving here the update of our regular activities in the month of January '08.

JEEVAN AKSHAY (Seva Mobile): In the month of January, 5 camps were held at Ramabai Nagar, Bhandup. 243 patients were checked, guided and provided medicines. They were performed complete health check-up.  Table showing the number of patients attended in camps are given as under:

105 camps held in the month of January which includes 55 morning and 50 evening camps.  2435 patients were performed complete check-up and given medicines. 

We request the citizen of all nearby areas to visit the centre and take benefits of all the medication / health related problems.

SLUM SANITATION – ‘NIRMAL MMR ABHIYAN’: Preliminary work is going on.  Regular follow-ups, contacts with City Municipal Offices and local leaders, site identification / survey etc. continue this month.

CENTRE FOR SLUM STUDIES: Activities done during the month of January '08 is given as under:

Organised games with Environmental Knowledge for 40 students of Vaibhav Vidyalaya, Kanjurmarg

Conducted shopkeepers' meeting regarding Environment issues of Karve Nagar

Organised Healthy Baby Competition for the residents of MMRDA Buidling Karve Nagar. 47 participants among the residents of 14 buildings of the locality were participated. The winners were:

1 days to 1 ˝  year – 3 prizes – Walker to all of  3

1st prize – Anjita Yadav  - 5 months 

2nd prize – Mohmmad Nasir – 9 months

3rd prize – Roshan Ramsingh Thkur  - 8 months

1 ˝ to 3 year  - 3 prizes- Bicycle to all of 3

 

1st prize – Ananya Adhikari  - 2 ˝   year 

2nd prize – Pranali Chavan–  2 ˝ year

3rd prize – Siraj Sheikh-  3 year

 Lecture given on “Water Born dieses” by Dr. Urmila Gavande, where 48 women of Karve Nagar were benefited  

'Clean Boy' and 'Clean Girl' Competition held at Karve Nagar, participated by 60 children of the locality.  Prizes distributed among 8 winners judged by Ms. Puja Sachde.  They are Khyati Sawant, Akash Yadav, Dipesh Jadhav, Pooja Heidulkar, Ganesh Bhadrike, Tanvi Pawar, Afrin Shaikh, Bhavika Lakde.  

Fancy Dress Competition held at Karve Nagar, participated by 36 children. Prizes distributed among 7 winners judged by Ms. Puja Sachde.  They are Omkar Shetty, Pragnya Shive, Pooja Haidulkar, Ajinkya Pawar, Mansi, Sakshi Jadhav, Saniya Shekh.  

Folk Dance Competition held at Karve Nagar, participated by 54 children.  The event judged by Mrs. Kashmira Bhatt.  Prize distributed among 7 winners which includes 3 in solo and 4 in Group dance. Solo dance winners are Saloni Koli, Bhavna  Nikam, Pranav Pannikar. Group dance winners are Minakshi Karla / Swati Ahire, Swapinl / Akash, Jospin / Kavita / Puja, Akanksha / Sulbha / Leena  

Haldi Kumkum Program held at Karve Nagar, participated by more than 300 women of the locality.  

Clean Kitchen Competition held at Karve Nagar, participated by more than 600 families of the 14 buildings of the locality.  Prizes distributed among them. 1st prize winner – Mrs. Saraswati Sakpal – 5 kg Prestige cooker, 2nd prize winner - Mrs. Neesha Shetty - Food-mixer with grinder / Juicer, 3rd prize winner – Mrs. Minakshi Suryavanshi – Idli Maker Set.

PALAVI  KENDRA : Ante-Natal Care (ANC) of the pregnant women mobilization in Four Administrative Wards of Greater Mumbai; 'A' ward, ‘E’ ward, 'G South' ward, and ‘S’ ward were covered during the month.

Our Out Reach Workers visited families in their respective wards, interacted with them and guided them about the health related problems.  They were counselled, guided and given proper guidance on health related matters, HIV & PPTCT Centre, Prevention and Family Planning.

Community meetings were held for Mahila Mandals, Health Posts, Beauty Parlor, Small Industries, Vyayamshala etc. The participants have been informed about Palavi Kendra.  IEC material and booklets for awareness distributed among them.

Few of the children are under regular follow-up of the organisation.

All the patients were treated with proper medication & counseling about their health related problems.  Pathological tests were done at very concessional rates.

We would like to inform that the centre has started X-ray and Sonography facility at very concessional rates.  Patients are requested to visit the centre to avail this facility on nominal charges.

JEEVAN AASHA :  This month, 97 patients visited our office and registered under Jeevan Aasha.  73 patients in all have received financial assistance this month from different Trusts for different ailments.  Others are under process.  Category of the patients / cases:

Besides, we have received more than 500 phone calls for enquiry / assistance during the month.

Patients for CT-Scan, MRI cases were forwarded to private institutions to be done at very concessional rates i.e. up to 60% & 50% discount respectively in their charges.

We are receiving regular appreciation and gratitude from the patients.

We express our heartiest gratitude to all the trusts / hospitals / doctors / social activists, for extending their support / help to the poor and needy patients for their surgery / treatment.

GTB HOSPITAL :  Motivation and empowerment of the patients continues with the techniques such as Music Therapy, Yoga, Diet and Nutrition, Vocational Training etc. for Rehabilitation of TB patients.

Every week around 30 patients, which includes both male & female have been attending and taking benefits of yoga every Monday.

We sincerely thanks, appreciate our co-workers for fulfilling their duties, and extending support in these activities.
