Yuvak Pratishthan is a registered Non-Government Organisation, dedicated to social, cultural and constructive causes for last 25 years.  It provides an open platform for all youth to come together, join hands and participate for different causes and issues.      

Yuvak Pratishthan is celebrating its ‘Silver Jubilee Year’ on the completion of 25 years in social field.

Thru' Yuvak Pratishthan, Mr. Kirit Somaiya, the Founder President of the organisation, tries to blend his political experience to suit the socio-economic factors which affect the common man.  This urge to address himself to the various needs and expectations of the common man, made him start Yuvak Pratishthan in 1980.  He has started a 'People's Participation Programme' - adoption of Mulund Railway Station for maintenance and beautification.  For the first time in the history of Mulund - School Children, Young Men and Companies viz. HDFC & Janakalyan Bank joined hands under Yuvak Pratishthan. And WOW, what a refreshing change Mulund Station has now undergone! Neat, Clean with attractive illustrations by children - and slogans spreading social awareness about Aids, Cleanliness & Nationalism. 

Yuvak Pratishthan, from its establishment has decided to work as an Umbrella Organization. Yuvak Pratishthan has defined its Role as Motivator, Guide, Philosopher and Friend of Small organizations.

Yuvak Pratishthan believes that, instead of stating and getting engaged in one activity, it should motivate many organizations to involve in that activity and get very good impact and larger reach out The success of Yuvak Pratishthan’s different Projects lies in this vision.

In our Hepatitis B Free Mumbai Campaign in which vaccination of Hepatitis B was done at very concessional rate.  Yuvak Pratishthan had organized camps on its own at many slums, engaging doctors and paramedical staff for the purpose.  We succeed in completing more that 30 lacs vaccinations in just two years, which entered in ‘Limca Book of Records’.  Not only this, the success ratio of this complete vaccination course (1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd Dose) in more than 75%.

Same were the cases with AIDS Free Mumbai Campaign, Millennium Khel Mahotsav and all others.

Yuvak Pratishthan is also associated with slums with Health Projects, Sanitation Projects, Environmental Projects, Sports Projects and Cultural Activities.  Yuvak Pratishthan knows the nerve of the slums and their population.  Yuvak Pratishthan is having direct involvement in number of activities from slums. 

Taking inspiration from the Olympic Motto - No matter who wins, it is participation that is important - and to inculcate sportsman spirit in the students, Yuvak Pratishthan conducted a unique Khel Mahotsav - Mulund Olympics.  True is spirit, 29,293 people, young and old participated, creating a Record, which even ‘Limca Book of Records’ have recognized.      

During the Kargil crisis, Yuvak Pratishthan organized over 3000 school children to express solidarity with our brave ‘Jawans’.  A film festival, showing patriotic film 'Border' was screened for 5,000 students. A Shaheed Smarak was set up in Mulund to remind people of the sacrifice of the unknown ‘Jawans’ defending motherland.    

In addition to this, Yuvak Pratishthan also has a regular 'Ambulance' service for emergencies. It also conducts regular free Medical Camps in slums for the poor and needy.

Courses in Slum Studies (CSS) is another example, practically useful and socially oriented educational programme conducted by Yuvak Pratishthan in association with Ramnarain Ruia College & All India Institute of Local Self Government, under which Certificate Course and P.G. Diploma Course in Slum Studies are running successfully.

Yuvak Pratishthan has set up Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), which is sponsored by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, for Raigad District of Maharashtra, for the purpose of education and increasing occupational skill, capacity building and knowledge of trainee so as to increase vocational and employment potential of the people in rural area. Establishment and Registration of new independent organization as directed in the JSS scheme will pave away for Educational and education related social work which is very necessary to up-lift of downtrodden population.  The Head Office is established in Alibag Taluka in Raigad District of Maharashtra.

To celebrate its silver jubilee year, Yuvak Pratishthan has launched ‘CATARACT FREE MUMBAI – Netra Suraksha Abhiyaan’ with a target of 400 Free Eye Check-up camps, 10000 Operations and 100000 Beneficiaries throughout Mumbai.
