Valmiki Ambedkar Aawas Yojana (VAMBAY)
(From June 2003 Onwards)

Introduction: 

It is a national level housing scheme of the Ministry of Urban Employment & Poverty Alleviation.  Government of India jointly with State Government for the benefit of the Slum dwellers.  Yuvak Pratishthan is the co-ordinating agency.

Objective:

To provide shelter or upgrade the existing shelter for people living below poverty line in urban slums.  VAMBAY is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme shared on a 50:50 basis.

Project Details:

Cost per unit of construction a VAMBAY house – Rs.60,000/-
Location of site Mulund, Ghatkopar, Chembur, Malbar hill, Vile Parle
Constructed 876 houses & handed them over to the householder.
Provided basic amenities for each dwelling unit – one room, a bath, a kitchen and flooring with tiles is also done.
City in Rs.60,000/- Buildup per room.
Metro City Rs.50,000/- Buildup per room.
Village in Rs.40,000/- Buildup per room.
Implement agency MHADA in Mumbai.
